Shovel and Pail are one of the main characters in Blue's Clues. Shovel is so playful while his sister Pail is thoughtful. They live in the backyard with dig in dirt and sand along with a way to make sand castles. Sometimes they don't get along with each other so Pail often gets mad at Shovel for something he did but thinks that it's okay to make her take the blame. Shovel is quite gullible and wishes to become a veterinarian, which he calls an "animal doctor", along with Pail when he grows up. It is revealed that he was scared of dinosaurs but Pail and Steve helped calm his fears by identifying similarities and differences.
In the UK version, they are referred to as Spade and Bucket.
