Elizabeth "Betty" Quinlan is a supporting character from The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius. She is the most popular girl at Lindbergh Elementary School and Nick's female counterpart, whom Jimmy has a crush on for most of the series, though she does not seem to return the favor. As a result of Jimmy's crush on her and how talented and pretty she is, she and Cindy do not get along well. She enjoys performing in front of an audience. While Betty likes Jimmy and is flattered by his affections, she doesn't return his feelings because she knows he belongs with Cindy and is fully supportive of him and Cindy being together. Betty is one of Jimmy's three side love-interests, along with Sagebrush Sally and April the Gorlock.

Betty is a very pretty girl who of Asian-American descent and is relatively slim with peach skin, dark brown hair, pink lips and has a beauty mark on her cheek, she usually is seen wearing a pretty pink sleeveless dress with a white frill bow tie around her neck and a matching belt tightened around her skirt, and a pair of turquoise and white converse sneakers.
History[]
Betty's first appearance was in the episode "Krunch Time"/"Substitute Creatue" in the first segment where she makes a brief cameo as one of the kids begging Jimmy to give him his candy. She later debuted, as well as being officially introduced in the episode "Party at Neutron's"/"Ultra Sheen" in the first segment where she was one of the kids who attended Jimmy's party. She dances with Jimmy and kisses him on the cheek when she leaves his house.
Betty is briefly seen at the end of the second season episode "Operation: Rescue Jet Fusion", where Jimmy daydreams about rescuing her. She then makes her second prominent and third overall appearance was in the episode later in the season "Out, Darn Spotlight", where she serves as on the two main protagonists (alongside Jimmy). She was given a role of Lady Macbeth in their school play "Macbeth in Space". Nick was initially supposed to play Macbeth, but Jimmy took over the role after Nick was injured. Actually, Betty was Jimmy's motive for wanting to be in the play in the first place, and she seems to know this, and offers him kind encouragement. Towards the end of the episode, Betty kisses Jimmy on the lips, because they had never gotten to do so on stage and for saving the play and their lives.
Betty last appearance was in the third season episode "One of Us"/"Vanishing Act" (taking place after "Out, Darn Spotlight"). In the first segment, she and many other Retroville citizens are hypnotized by Grandma Tater's Happy Show Show. When Jimmy saw Betty as a zombie, he ran away. In the second segment, she again, serves as one of the two main protagonists. Jimmy attempts to perform a magic show in order to impress her. However, as a result of Cindy's jealous actions, the magic show goes awry, and they end up stuck in another dimension. Jimmy and Betty continue to flirt, which angers Cindy to the point of furiously attacking and blaming the whole thing on Betty and Jimmy (which Jimmy proceeds to call her out on). Betty eventually gets fed up with Cindy's jealous attitude towards her and calmly pulls her aside to talk to her. Betty reveals that she knows Jimmy had a crush on her and that Cindy had a crush on Jimmy, and says while she's flattered that Jimmy likes her, she doesn't like him as anything more than just a friend. Betty tells Cindy to stay out of her face and that Jimmy is all hers, indicating that Betty also feels that Jimmy and Cindy would make a better match for each other than herself and Jimmy.
Aside from her the above, Betty also makes numerous background cameos in "The Eggpire Strikes Back", "Make Room for Daddy-O", "Return of the Nanobots", the second segment in "MaternoTron Knows Best"/Send in the Clones", the first segment in "The Great Egg Heist"/"The Feud", the second segment in "The Mighty Wheezers"/"Billion Dollar Boy", "Attack of the Twonkies", "The League of Villains" (but only in pictures owned by Jimmy), "My Big Fat Spy Wedding", and the second and third Jimmy Timmy Power Hour specials.
Trivia[]
- Like Nick, Betty is implied to be to be slightly older than Jimmy's friends, since she's not in any classes with them (while Nick still is), and is taller and even looks a bit older.
- It is revealed in "The League of Villains" that Jimmy still likes her, since he was shown to still have many pictures of her in a drawer in his lab and one in his captain's log, which Cindy made him get rid of upon discovering them.
- Although they usually don't get along well, it is hinted in "The League of Villains" that Cindy might be secretly fond of Betty since she was smiling and giggling at one of Jimmy's pictures of her.
- In Out, Darn Spotlight, when Nick and Betty were first assigned to be casted as MacBeth and Lady MacBeth, it is shown that it is hinted that they have actual romantic chemistry between them.
- Nick and Betty being an actual couple also would make sense because they are the same type of kids, being the most popular kids at the school. This is also an evident with Jimmy and Cindy being an actual couple as they are both geniuses.
- In an episode planned for the show's unproduced fourth season, Betty, Cindy and Libby would've gotten trapped in Jimmy's lab and would have to work together to escape. Cindy would've opened up to Betty and the two would've finally become friends.
- Betty is one the only two supporting characters and non-villain characters to have story logical appearances rather than normal ones, the other is Jet Fusion.
- Betty is the second female character to have a beauty mark on her face, the first being Judy.
- Betty bears a strong resemblance to Beautiful Gorgeous, sharing similar hair styles, somewhat similar facial features, and having beauty marks on the left side of their faces.
- This leads to theories and speculation that they might be related in some way.
- Betty also bears a strong resemblance to the leader of Graystar (Libby's favorite band), Chelsea.
